Naya keeps the thoughts you don't want to lose and brings them back at a useful moment. To do that well it handles some personal information. This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the control you have. We've tried to write it plainly.
The short version
- Your audio never leaves your phone. Speech is turned into text on your device, and the recording is deleted right after.
- We store the text of what you say so we can bring it back to you.
- We send that text (and any context you choose to share) to our AI provider to decide the right moment and write the notification.
- You choose what context we can use, and you can delete everything at any time.
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
What we collect
Your thoughts
When you capture a thought, your device transcribes the audio locally and deletes the recording immediately. We store only the resulting text, so we can resurface it later.
Account information
You sign in with your phone number before using Naya. We receive and store your phone number (used only to send you a one-time sign-in code and to key your account), which lets us keep your thoughts across devices and reinstalls. Codes are delivered by Twilio; we never see or store your carrier details.
Context you choose to share
To time notifications well, the app can use signals you turn on individually in Settings. Each is optional, used only to decide when to bring a thought back, and used only while it's current:
- Calendar — your free/busy times and, if you grant it, event titles, times, and locations.
- Location — your precise location and the general area it resolves to (e.g., the city or neighborhood you're in).
- Weather — current conditions where you are.
- Motion & presence — e.g., whether you're driving (so we don't interrupt) or away from home.
Suggestions (optional)
If you opt into proactive suggestions by picking interests, we use those interests and your current area to find relevant nearby places and events to suggest. If you pick no interests, this feature stays off.
Device & technical data
A push-notification token (so we can send notifications), basic device and operating-system information, and minimal diagnostic data to keep the service working.
How we use your information
- Decide whether and when a thought has earned the right to come back, and write the notification in a friendly voice.
- Honor your quiet hours, daily limits, and "let it go" choices.
- Show you, on request, the reasoning behind any notification ("why I pinged you").
- If you opted in, surface relevant nearby suggestions.
- Operate, secure, and improve the quality and timing of the service.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of trusted providers (sub-processors) to run Naya. We don't sell your personal data and we don't use it for advertising.
- Anthropic (Claude) — your thought text and any fresh context are sent to Anthropic to make the timing decision and write the notification. This is processed under our account; per Anthropic's API terms, your data is not used to train their models.
- Supabase — our database and backend, where your account, thoughts, and settings are stored.
- Twilio — delivers the one-time sign-in codes to your phone number.
- Apple — the Apple Push Notification service (delivering notifications), and App Store billing if you buy a membership.
- RevenueCat — manages membership purchases and subscription status (receives your account id and purchase history, never your thoughts).
- PostHog — product analytics (which features are used, keyed to your account id) so we can see what's working and fix what isn't.
- OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia, and (optionally) SeatGeek — used only if you turn on suggestions, to find nearby places and events near your area.
How long we keep it
We keep your thoughts and settings until you delete them. Choosing Delete everything in the app erases your account and associated data. Audio is never stored at all.
Your choices and rights
- Turn each context signal (calendar, location, weather, motion) on or off at any time in Settings, or in your device's system settings.
- Turn notifications off whenever you like.
- Delete your account and all your data from within the app.
- Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us and we'll help.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted with row-level security so that only your account can read your thoughts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Naya isn't directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
International users
We're based in the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and revise the date above. Please check back from time to time.
